How has the Hubble Space Telescope changed our understanding of the universe?

The hubble Space telescope

The Hubble Telescope is a space telescope that went into orbit on April 1990 carried by the Space Shuttle Discovery. Soon after it was sent into Orbit it was clear that its main mirror was ground inccorectly however this was fixed in 1993. Since then it has taken breath taking and amazingly clear and precise pictures of our Universe. These pictures furthern our understanding and knowledge of our universe as we are able to see for our selves, some of the deep abyss and mysterious places of our universe, including those within our own solar system and Milky way or remote far away galaxies. Some of these Galaxies, we are viewing, are only 13 billion years after the Big Bang. The hubble telescope can also view the ultraviolet parts of a spectrum.(since light takes time to reach, everything in space we view is in the past).

Seeing the past, we can piece together just some of the eternal and unsolvable puzzle of our universe. After many missions, the hubble telescope will be deorbited on around 2013-2021, when its successor, The James Webb Space Telescope will be placed in Orbit.
